A-MAE-zing Comicbook
Delicious dilemma!
• • • Problem: What's a playwright to do when too many people turn up to watch a staged reading of "COURTING MAE WEST" - - and over 200 adults must be turned away for lack of room?
• • • Problem: When a play is set during the 1920s, how can that mood be created during a bare-staged reading, when the cast is dressed simply in black and there is no way to suggest the old Sixth Avenue El, a former jailhouse on Sixth Avenue, a speakeasy, and other colorful elements of a lawless decade?
• • • Rx: create a colorful comicbook to entertain the audience at a bare-bones staged reading - - and give a copy of this collectible even to the adults who were turned away. See a small sample of it - - but please do NOT reproduce this copyrighted material.
